Yoni Lappin & Lovesick

Mura Masa - Lovesick ft. Asap Rocky

Although this is a  music video, it still encaptures all the elements and features of a film, as it would. I have decided to analysis this music video because the filming style links well to my own short film and I would personally like to capture a similar image and concept. The director of the Lovesick video is Yoni Lappin, he has directed many other music videos working with the likes of Nao for her 'Girlfriend' Video and other music videos for Mura Masa, which have all been particularly inspiring in their style and cinematography. The colour palette used in all the videos but especially 'Lovesick' is one i found particularly interesting, i found the contrast between muted tones and bright warm colours pose for an interesting concept symbolising the contrast between these youthful teenagers and the grey, dull society they have been brought up in and introducing the idea that 'love' is the only thing that relates the two, making it bearable. this helps us to understand why one of the protagonists feels lost without his one true love, even when he is surrounded by so much love and colour, this is seen in the party scene.overall this music video is very insightful into the youthful society that dominates our communities and environments, and proved to be useful research regarding young people and how they inhabit their surroundings.
